How to Participate
Access
A great place to start to explore the hundreds of resources on this site is the homepage. The newest additions to our site and especially timely materials will appear on the homepage. From the homepage, educators can access teaching material by following the “Teachers” link. Likewise, parents and children will find age-appropriate material under “Kids” and secondary school students will be able to access student-friendly research materials under “Students.”
Search
A quick way to find what you need is to use one of our seach functions:
Keyword search
On the upper right corner, type in a keyword. When the results appear, be sure to scroll down to see the full range of background essays, images and maps.
Advanced search
If the keyword search pulls up too many results to sort through, click on “advanced search” to narrow the results by grade level, geographical area or historical era.
Filter bar
This is new technology that adjusts your search results based on what you click on the “Filter >” bar. You can access this feature in the Teacher section by clicking on the Lesson Plan, Background Essay or other tabs at the top of the website.
Review
On content pages, such as a lesson plan or background essay, we encourage website visitors to tell us what you think about a resource. Click on the “review” button [
] in the upper right corner to comment on a particular piece or on your thoughts about the website in general. You may also share pedagogical approaches that might differ from the published lesson plan; in those cases, we will post reviews alongside the lesson plan.
Learn
Explore our student-centered features, such as an interactive atlas of Asia or a simple Chinese lesson.
Share
Like what you see? Use the “E-mail to a friend” feature [
], which can be accessed on lesson plan or background essay pages in the upper right corner.
